CONQUERING FEAR
Fear -
an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger.
Scientifically, the universal trigger for fear is the threat of harm, real or imagined.
This threat can be for our physical, emotional or psychological well-being.
While there are certain things that trigger fear in most of us, we can learn to become afraid of nearly anything.
Simply put, fear is the belief that God is not with you
Fear Can Be taught, Fear Can Be Learnt.
THE SCIENCE OF FEAR
Psychologically, fear involves a universal biochemical response and a high individual emotional response.
Fear alerts us to the presence of danger or the threat of harm, whether that danger is physical or psychological.

THE SPIRIT OF FEAR
2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of sound mind."
The apostle Paul wrote these words to Timothy.
Paul knew that Timothy struggled with a timid personality and needed encouragement to be bold for the Gospel. "Fear" was also originally intended to mean cowardice or timidity.
Paul was exhorting Timothy to not let the spirit of fear keep Him from preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The spirit of fear can cause us to shrink in the face of opposition, persecution, and struggles.
The Spirit of God wants us to move forward into God's will with confidence!
THE WILL OF GOD
God wants us to be totally free from fear.
He doesn’t want us to live in torment, and He doesn’t want fear to stop us from confidently doing what He leads us to do.
FAITH AND FEAR
While fear keeps us alert of the presence of danger; Faith keeps us alert of the presence of our Jesus Christ our Savior
- Faith is trust and dependence on God while fear is the lack of trust in God.
- Fear is uncertainty while FAITH is sure.
- Faith is grounded in Truth; fear is grounded in lies.
- Faith is based on the promises of God. Fear is based on the deceptive lies of Satan.
- Faith comes by hearing the Word of God; fear comes by hearing the lies of Satan.
- FAITH brings peace but FEAR takes peace away.
- Faith and FEAR are only brought to life in our minds.
- FAITH feeds on truth; FEAR feeds on false.
There are many different type of fear according to science but there is only one type of fear that we as believers are supposed to employ and that is the
FEAR OF GOD.
When we say fear God we do not mean to simply be afraid of him. The "fear of the Lord" encompasses more than simple fear.
Robert B. Strimple says, "It is the convergence of awe, reverence, adoration, honor, worship, confidence, thankfulness, love, and, yes, fear
It means a joyful awareness of God’s grandeur and a grateful realization that only in him do our hearts find true peace.
The fear of the Lord creates a hunger to be closer to God.
FOR YOU
Many of you have gifts and talents from God, but aren't using them because they tried and failed?
So many people are frustrated because they know they're not doing what they are meant to do and are letting fear rule them instead.
You're mostly afraid of what might happen if you try and loose again.
DEFEATING FEAR
1. LOVE - The Bible says in I John 4:16-18
God is Love, There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear
God is Love and if perfect love casts out fear that means God casts out fear.
The Bible speaking in
2 Timothy 1:7 - For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind
God has given us the keys to overcome every kind of fear in our lives and that is - LOVE
Practice Love. John writes in
1 John 4:19
We love him, because he first loved us
If God is love, and perfect love CASTS OUT fear, then God casts out fear – His presence will absolutely cast out fear. Therefore, how much of the wrong kind of fear – that of being afraid of God – can possibly come from God? Zero. Sure.
Indeed, the wrong kind of fear is precisely what God casts out!
Our love for God cannot be generated, it cannot be created.
It is only received through Jesus Christ.
When we receive Christ and grow in him the result is not being afraid of God but loving God
A religious man believes that God cannot keep man in line except through threats of punishment.
But we as Christian teenagers we are not religious. NO!
We are the express image of the Love of God.
We love God because he first loved us and perfect love casts out all fear.
So, if you are being tormented by the Spirit of fear its about time you start practicing love; because through love our faith gets empowered.
Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgement: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has to do with punishment. He that fears is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us. (1 John 4:17-19)
2. THE WORD OF GOD
We do not overcome fear by fighting fear, we overcome fear by knowing and revering God. When you give the devil attention, he will give you direction.
LOOK AT THIS SCENARIO:
You're in a room and there are two radios playing you can choose to turn up the volume of one and turn down the volume of the other. The reason you would turn up the volume of one radio is because something being said has caught your attention and in order to get more of it you have to turn down the volume of the other radio. Therefore of the two radios you are listening to one and the other you are just hearing. Its the same thing with fear In any situation that seems "dazzling" there will be two voices present, the voice of fear and the voice of faith. You can choose to turn down the voice of fear and turn up the voice of Faith, therefore fear cannot move you away from faith.
The solution to fear is to see the Truth about God – that God is love, and that God is faithful. This is much better than to spend all time and energy trying to make fear go away.
The light will always drive out the darkness – you cannot just fight darkness.
You must have light.
When we have a deep understanding of God’s perfect, unconditional love for us, we realize he will always take care of everything that concerns us.
That knowledge delivers us from fear.
3. PRAY
Sometimes fear can be overwhelming and in situations like that it is imminent that we lift up our voice and pray to God
Never underestimate the Power of Prayer.
Pray about everything and fear nothing
As we seek God, we are focusing on Him instead of our fears.
We worship Him for Who He is and express our appreciation for the good He has done, is doing, and will continue to do.
When we come before his throne bearing any kind of burden he lifts it from our shoulders.
